Time To Share & Do A Give Away

Cool beans! It's time to share! Since I've started sharing vintage and thrifty finds on Thursdays, I've discovered I'm a collector of many things. And these collections always come with fantabulous prices. So for Thrifty Thursday with Leigh and Vintage Thingies Thursday with Suzanne, here are two sets of my kitchen canisters that are displayed on the top of my cupboards. I could show you more, but I don't want to over do it!  :)

These green checked canisters match my kitchen perfectly (for now). Cost? One dollar at a yard sale!

I liked the yellow checked lids (see a pattern here?) on these canisters. Yes, the sugar canister is missing, but I don't care. The set only cost me two dollars.

I want to redo my kitchen in chocolate brown, blue, and aqua. The canisters will no longer match. So what do you think??? Keep them as is, paint them (don't flinch), or pass them on...

Drum roll please. I will be doing a give away on October 1. Next week, I will list the  goodies in the give away with some photos. You just need to become a follower and you're in. I will return the favor and will follow your blog. If you are already a follower, then you are set to go.

My crazy goal is to have 100 posts and 100 followers by Oct. 1. Why? Well, I have this big announcement coming soon. I don't want to spill the beans, but it is not a party. I enjoy all the parties already in existence by our wonderful hosts. I want to try something a little different to connect, have fun, and still bring value. Stay tuned...it's a dilly!

Living it up at Lakewood,
Cindy

Cute canister sets! I'm basically against painting vintage things, but that's just me! You could certainly paint them to go with your new wallcolor, and they'd look great. Good luck!
Happy VTT!

October 1 is my birthday - of course I signed up to follow your blog! Cute canisters - I would not change a thing about them.

Postcardy September 16, 2009 at 10:25 PM

The recipe canisters are nice looking and the recipes look interesting too.

I'm against painting the canisters, unless you are very good at decorative painting.

Sherrie September 16, 2009 at 10:50 PM

I'm flinching here :0) No paint if it were me.

I am an official follower now.
I so want to see you reach your goal!

And the mystery of what you are planning......

Ulla September 17, 2009 at 2:25 AM

Those canisters are too cute to be painted.

Hi,
I think your canister sets are great, please don't paint them! Vintage enameled sets such as these are very popular in France but if you want the complete set they can be a little pricey.
Add me to your followers list & please pop over to Normandy if you have the time.

So nice to meet you, thanks for stopping by my blog. I think your canisters will look great in any color decor. I am not a fan of "too mitchy, matchy", I think if you like it, it all matches. I will sign up to be a follower, sounds like fun. Thanks again.

Hi there - I just LOVE your blog! It's my first time here and I can already tell I'm going to be back. I've become a follower (that sounds creepy, but in a good way) ☺ and I can't wait to check back and see what the big surprise is! Take care and thanks for stopping by my blog, too ~ ♥ Oh yeah, LOVE the canisters - we used to have one when I was little for Saltines. I wish my mom still had that one!

Chocolate brown, blue and aqua, hmm? That sounds very pretty and what fun you're going to have redecorating the kitchen.

The green and white checked canisters are adorable!
And what a co-inky-dink. I love surprises!

Dion September 17, 2009 at 5:52 PM

No, no paint! It would look good, but it will scratch with use -- so just from a practical standpoint, I think they should stay as is!

Love what you are doing to the kitchen -- wow!

Love the canister set. I vote for no paint. Which is a first for me, I'm usually on board for painting everything! God's blessings on your kitchen remodel, Sarah :D

Cindy (Applestone Cottage) September 17, 2009 at 7:25 PM

Those canisters are just the cutest! They have such a vintage style. Hugs, Cindy

I like the yellow set, I would not paint them. The green..hmmm...not my color of green so I would paint them. I am a follower now come visit my blog sometime! Interested to see what you have planned for the future.

Diann @ The Thrifty Groove September 17, 2009 at 9:09 PM

Oh I love the yellow check canister set! And with an announcement of giving some of your finds away, well, I had to run over and sign up to follow you. :)

A Collector At Heart September 17, 2009 at 9:23 PM

Love your canisters! Gives me an idea for a future VTT post! LOL! I wouldn't touch the original condition! Pack them away if they don't go with the decor. Who knows, maybe sometime in the future they will match perfectly! I'm excited to hear about your big announcement and give away! I will definitely become a follower! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

teresa September 17, 2009 at 10:14 PM

Pretty canisters! I have red milkbone rectangle metal canisters in my kitchen, that are similar to your yellow ones in shape. You are my kinda girl! Glad you visited my blog so I could wander on over here and read yours. Thanks so much

Don't think I would paint the canisters, but you could use the brown and yellow ones in your new brown kitchen.

Condo Blues September 18, 2009 at 5:24 PM

I can't believe you got those canisters for a $1.00. I'd expect a dollar each.
