Thrifty is Nifty

Time to celebrate fall with my October 1 Give Away!!! Click on my button on the right to get details and grab my button to share with others. No hoops or steps to qualify. Just become a follower and I'll do the same for you!

It's time to share vintage and thrifty finds with Suzanne at Colorado Lady and Leigh at Bloggeritaville. Kudos to both these ladies for being great hostesses. Go check out everyone's fun finds!

I'm fond of birds. Heck, I'm fond of a lot of critters and nature in general. Today I had seven birds by the front porch screeching at Kit Kat sitting inside at the window watching their every move. So it made me think of one of my recent finds...my coffee/tea set. I love it. I acquired it at an auction with  a variety of other teapots and sets. No one wanted teapots that day so I got a great deal. I think I spent about $10 for all of them. I sold all the sets except this one. I had to keep it with the little nests on one side and see below for the closeup of the other side. Ever see this pattern before?

The tarnished silver cake stand (I like it that way) is from another auction that Tool Man went to. Bless his heart! He bought a box because it had a pillow with a garden theme on it that he thought I would like. The pillow was old and smelly. Um, oh, well...thank you??? So I asked what else was in the box. He didn't know. That's when I pulled the silver cake stand out from the bottom. Whoo-hoo!

Here is another cake stand/dish that I use all the time. It has a pretty etched design which is impossible to capture with the camera. My Grandma S gave this green vintage piece to me many years ago. It makes a great display for a variety of dishes and desserts. And Grandma S was known for her cooking and baking so this glassware always makes me think of her.

That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and sitting for a spell!

Living it up at Lakewood,
Cindy

Nice find! I am certainly not an expert but it seems to me that black and white is pretty unusual. The nest design too.

The tea set is cute with the nests. I love the green glass stand from your grandmother. Seeing her picture on your sidebar makes me see grandmothers in a new light. She looks so happy and young!

I love the black and white tea set. I also love the silver cake stand. I think this is the first time I have visited your blog. I will add you as a favorite, even without the give-away. Oct. 1 is my birthday, so it would be a great b-day present if I won.

What a lovely tea set, and I would have had to keep that one too! And that silver cake stand is really great. It sure was nice of your hubby to think of you, even though the box included a stinky pillow!
Happy VTT!

What a great teapot and cup set! Very different. And what a great day at the auction for teapot and cups buying!!

Have a wonderful Weekend!

I'm signing up to follow!

What's with the "tarnished silver". Get the silver polish out girl. You don't have to take all the black off just shine it up a bit. It will look really beautiful with that great Coffee set. What a wonderful design this set has. Very Unique.
The green dish is just beautiful. It looks deep enough to make a small Trifle in. Yummy!
